Tempting and a sock I am currently working on. I am further along than what the photo shows for the sock I have completed the short rows on the heel and now ready to pick up the chain stitches on the side. The yarn I got from Knit Picks. I love Knit Picks their prices are great. Last week I bought some plain yarn to dye next year. Dyeing is another avenue I want to explore. At this point I'm not sure which method I want to use. If anyone has a suggestion let me know.

Tempting

I finally completed Tempting from Knitty.com. I started the project in November and finished it the first part of December which is quick for me. This was the first sweater project that I knit in the round. It was really nice not to seam. I’m not very good at finishing I guess perhaps because I really don’t know how. Finishing is one of my 2006 goals for knitting. I want to master it along with many other things one of which is lace. Lace is harder than what I expected especially when you have little ones interrupting your concentration. I started the Shoal Water Shawl by Fiber Trends back in September. I am just about to start the first repeat. I am at row 63. Erica, my Meet up group member friend has already completed the shawl. She explained to me how to do the repeats but I forgot. It was way back in September. I hate to ask her again she will probably think I’m thick in the skull. But I will, I sure hate to rip especially lace. I know your thinking life lines. Well, yes I have done a few rows of them. I don’t like them either I do just a few in the rare occasion I make a mistake. I will post a picture of my progress in the future.

Christmas is over. While I really enjoy the festivities of Christmas, it can be really stressful as we all know. With the shopping, running errands to the post office, writing out Christmas cards, planning Christmas dinner, and on top of everything else trying to finish up knitted gifts. I was up until 11:00 pm on Christmas Eve putting the finishing touches on a Knitted Babe doll for my daughter in addition to weaving loose ends on knitted gifts I made.

Here is a photo of the gifts I knitted for my family. My daughter named her doll Jessie. I thought that was a cute name. It made me feel happy because she thought the doll was beautiful even though I forgot to give her a nose. That’s what happens when you’re up finishing at 11:00 PM.

My knitting journey began in 2003. I was channel surfing the television when I discovered a knitting show. Immediately, I was interested in watching as I had unsuccessfully tried to learn to knit twice before. I intently watched the 30 minute progam and by the end of the show I knew I wanted to give knitting another try. So, that same day I went to the craft store to purchase yarn, needles and enroll in a knitting class. I was determined this time to learn to knit. Well, success was mine. I learned to knit and I even had a knitted handbag to prove it.

Today, my knitting journey still continues. I am currently working on a Fair Isle Vest. The pattern was originally for a simple pullover sweater but I decided to make it a vest as I wanted to do the steek process. In addition to the vest, I am working on a lace shawl. In the near future, I would like to experiment with dyeing yarn and try my hand at spinning.
