Happy Friday!

Two post in one week my goodness, pigs must be falling from the sky. You'd better watch your head.

Well, I am progressing well on the baby bids. Currently, I am in the process of tracing the bibs to be sewn. It is better to work in an assembly line so to speak as these take all of a few minutes to sew.

I did manage to sneak this cute apron in for me from Bend the Rules Sewing. I have a bad habit of sometimes drying my hands on my pants when I am on kitchen duty. I know that is soo 6 year oldish. The apron was really simple to sew and I think would make a really nice hostess gift.

A very good site to visit for inspiration and excellent tutorials is Sew, Mama, Sew Blog. I have found some cute ideas lurking over at that blog too.

In the knitting front I am knittin away on my very very very very garter stitch Bog Jacket. I am hoping to have it finished by the end of this month.

Well have a good weekend.

New Year, New Projects, New Blog Name

I am really excited about the knitting , spinning and sewing projects I have planned for 2008 because my intentions are to give many of these projects away as gifts. There are so many people I know who are expecting babies, there will be a ton of birthday parties, and of course the usual holiday giving throughout the year. And quite frankly, I can't afford to buy gifts for all of these occasions.

So, I have made the pledged this year to make gift items. To be honest, I think people appreciate homemade items as they are personal and they stand out amongst the mass produced store bought gifts. Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking store bought gifts as I would take a Coach bag over a homemade tote bag any day. But, homemade tote as a gift vs a Coach Bag as a gift. Well let's just say homemade is made from the heart, enough said.
Now with that being said, I bought this great sewing book called Bend the Rules Sewing. The author Amy Karol a.ka. Angry Chicken, has very simple but nice projects to sew and gift.

I am in the process of starting some baby bids. I picked up some lovely cotton and cotton flannel to sew them up with. I can't wait to get started.

In closing, I decided to change my blog name The Habitual Knitter because I tend to dabble in a few different crafty things hence the name Bits and Things. Well, I guess that is it.

Happy New Year!
