Better Not Quit My Day Job!

I am still here dyeing roving, (top). It is proving to be a bit more challenging dyeing multiple colors than I thought. This most recent dyed job is interesting to say the least. Not what I quite expected but we will see how it spins up. I currently, have more top that has been dyed and is cooling at the moment. I think it looks pretty good. I am getting more comfortable with handling wet wool and working mixing colors. I think it will show in the next top.

I am going start dyeing yarn next week. Stay tuned!

Crazy Busy!



Well, things have been pretty busy around here getting the kids ready for school. I have been doing a lot of last minute trips picking things up for the kids. In addition, I was taking care of pets and mail for friends who were out of town. I did mange to sneak in some dyeing. I did immersion dyeing for this comp tomb roving. It has really deep shades of burgundy and purple. My daughter is dyeing for me to make something for her. I must admit I am having a slight problem for want to keep everything I make. It is really hard to pick up the coloring in photos but the colors are great. I do have photo 101 on my to do list.

I am still working on my cowl. It is really pretty and rustic lucking. I will have photos in a few days.

Fall Harvest

So, I spent a few hours spinning up the roving from my last post. I like the way it turned out. I love the Barber pole effect. I plan on using the Linen stitch to give it that woven effect. I must learn how to Navajo-ply on occasions in which I don't want that effect. Navajo-plying will be my things to learn in 2011.

I am going to knit a Cowl with this yarn. I am going to start it tonight. I can't wait to see the finished results. By the way, don't the colors remind you of the Fall Harvest.

When One Door Closes

Summer break is coming to an end and my youngest will finally start kindergarten in the fall. I am so excited that I will be able to have a bit of uninterrupted time for myself a few hours a day. It is bitter sweet though as I will miss having my children around. But as the saying goes, "When one door closes another will open." My open door, has led me to selling hand dyed roving, yarn and knitting accessories on-line made by me of course. My goods will be sold on Etsy to start. So, stay tuned over the next couple of weeks as I will post updates on my going-ons and sneak peeks as to what is to come.
